Cookie Policy

1. Who we are
This website is operated by Palmer Primer Ltd, Unit 2, Wrynose Road, Old Hall Industrial Estate, Wirral, CH62 3QD. When we refer to "we", "us" or "our" in this policy, we mean Palmer Primer Ltd.
This cookie policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use on our website, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data.
2. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the site owner.
Cookies can be "first-party" (set by us) or "third-party" (set by another organisation whose services we use, such as an analytics provider). They can be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remain on your device for a set period or until you delete them).
We also use similar technologies such as local storage (which stores data in your browser rather than as a traditional cookie). These work in a similar way and are covered by this policy.
3. Our legal basis for using cookies
Our use of cookies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) where cookies collect personal data.
We only place non-essential cookies on your device after you have given us your consent. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent as they are essential for the website to function.
4. Strictly necessary cookies
These are essential for the website to work properly. Without them, core features would not function. They do not require your consent and cannot be switched off.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| cookie-consent | Palmer Primer | Stores your cookie consent preference so you are not asked again on each visit. | Local storage (first-party) | Persistent |
5. Analytics cookies
These cookies help us understand how visitors use our website by collecting anonymous, aggregate information such as which pages are visited most often. This data helps us improve our website and your experience. These cookies are only placed on your device after you have given your consent via our cookie banner.
| Name | Provider | Purpose | Type | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors to our site by assigning a randomly generated number as an identifier. | Third-party, persistent | 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Used by Google Analytics 4 to maintain session state. | Third-party, persistent | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Distinguishes users for analytics reporting during a single browsing day. | Third-party, persistent | 24 hours |
| _gat | Google Analytics | Limits the rate of requests to Google Analytics to manage server load. | Third-party, session | 1 minute |
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) provided by Google Ireland Limited. Analytics data may be transferred to Google servers in the United States. Google is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and we have a Data Processing Agreement in place. For more information on how Google handles data, see Google's Privacy Policy.
Where available, we configure Google Analytics to anonymise IP addresses before storage, so that your full IP address is never recorded.
6. What analytics data we collect
When you consent to analytics cookies, we may collect the following anonymous, aggregate information to improve our website:
- Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
- How you arrived at our site (e.g. search engine, direct link)
- Buttons and links you click
- How far you scroll down each page
- Whether you click on links to external websites
- Form interactions (which fields you use, not the content you enter)
- Technical information such as your browser type, screen size and general geographic region
We do not track the content you type into forms, and we strip identifying information (such as email addresses) from any URLs before they are recorded.
7. Marketing and advertising cookies
We do not use any marketing, advertising or targeting cookies. We do not run remarketing campaigns, and we do not share your browsing data with advertising networks.
8. How to manage your cookie preferences
Our cookie banner
When you first visit our website, you will see a cookie banner that gives you the choice to accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site, which will cause the banner to appear again on your next visit.
Browser settings
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View what cookies are stored and delete them individually
- Block third-party cookies
- Block cookies from specific websites
- Block all cookies
- Delete all cookies when you close your browser
Here are links to cookie management instructions for common browsers:
Please be aware that blocking all cookies may affect the functionality of some websites, though our site is designed to work without non-essential cookies.
9. Google Analytics opt-out
In addition to declining cookies via our banner, you can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
10. International data transfers
Some data collected by Google Analytics may be processed on servers located outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal, regulatory or operational reasons. The "last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. We encourage you to check this page periodically.
