Vacuum Coater VC6-DI
Flawless four-side finishes in a single pass. Advanced vacuum coating for timber and MDF profiles.
The Challenge
Traditional spray coating methods waste material, require extensive drying time, and struggle to maintain consistent coverage on complex profiles. Manual brush application is labour-intensive and produces inconsistent results. Picture frame details get clogged with overspray, and production bottlenecks limit throughput.
The Solution
The VC6-250-DI transforms finishing operations with vacuum-powered precision coating. Four-side coverage in one pass, zero-waste recirculation, and speeds up to 50 metres per minute. Retain intricate moulding details while achieving production rates of 7,000–10,000 linear metres per day.
How It Works
The advanced vacuum coating process delivers precision results in a single pass
Moulding Insertion
Timber or MDF profiles are fed into the machine at variable speeds between 10-50 metres per minute. Heavy-duty feed rollers ensure smooth, consistent movement through the coating chamber.
Vacuum Application
The advanced vacuum system draws finish through custom aluminium templates, coating all four sides simultaneously. Inverter-controlled vacuum power allows precise film thickness adjustment for different profiles and finishes.
Excess Recirculation
Any coating not applied to the moulding is immediately reclaimed into the stainless steel tank system. Zero waste means reduced material costs and environmental impact, unlike spray systems that lose finish to overspray.
Technical Excellence
Advanced engineering for superior results
Stainless Steel Construction
Manufactured extensively from heavy gauge stainless steel plate for exceptional durability and corrosion resistance.
The main coating tank and critical components are fabricated from stainless steel using advanced 3D CAD/CAM systems in the design and manufacturing process. This ensures longevity even in demanding production environments with water-based finishes. The VC6 is built on heavy-duty castors, allowing easy repositioning within your workshop while maintaining stability during operation.
Inverter-Controlled Vacuum System
Variable vacuum power provides precise control over coating film thickness and finish quality.
Unlike fixed-power systems, the VC6's inverter control allows you to fine-tune vacuum strength between half and full power. This enables optimal coating results across different finish viscosities, profile geometries, and desired film thicknesses. Combined with variable feed speed control, you achieve perfect results whether applying thin stains to picture frames or heavy primers to construction mouldings.
Fast-Change Template System
Removable aluminium templates in the upper coating chamber enable rapid profile changes without tools.
Each moulding profile requires a custom-fitted template to ensure perfect coating coverage. The VC6's innovative template design allows these to be swapped out quickly without specialised tools or lengthy setup procedures. This means you can efficiently handle short production runs of diverse profiles, a game-changer for custom joinery operations and picture frame manufacturers who work with multiple moulding styles daily.
Expandable System Architecture
The VC6-250-DI is designed to integrate seamlessly with the DS6 Drying Tunnel for complete coating and curing solutions.
As your operation grows, the VC6 can be paired with Palmer Primer's DS6-250 Drying Tunnel to create a continuous coating and drying line. This modular approach lets you start with coating capability and add automated drying when production volumes justify it, protecting your initial investment while maintaining upgrade paths for future expansion.
Engineered for Excellence
Precision engineering meets practical efficiency
Four-Side Coating
Complete coverage in a single pass. All faces and edges receive an even, consistent coat simultaneously, eliminating the need for multiple operations or manual touch-ups.
Zero-Waste System
Advanced recirculation technology captures and reuses 100% of unused finish. Dramatically reduces material costs compared to spray systems and minimises environmental impact.
Precision Control
Variable feed speed (11-40 m/min) and switchable vacuum power (half/full) provide complete control over coating thickness and finish quality. Adapt instantly to different profiles and materials.
Rapid Changeovers
Tool-free aluminium template system enables profile changes in minutes, not hours. Switch from architrave to picture frames to skirting board without production delays.
Real-World Applications
Solving challenges across multiple industries
Custom Architectural Mouldings
Coat architrave, skirting, and dado rail with consistent professional finishes. Handle diverse client orders efficiently with fast template changes. Deliver superior quality that sets your work apart from competitors.
Bespoke Profile Finishing
Retain fine detail on intricate mouldings that spray systems would clog. Achieve high quality finishes on decorative profiles. Process multiple product styles in a single production day without finish waste.
Pre-Finished Moulding Supply
Offer customers pre-finished timber products ready for installation. Add value to standard mouldings with professional coating. Increase margins while reducing customer finishing time and complexity.
