Why All-Round Coverage Matters
Timber profiles exposed to moisture on unsealed faces absorb water unevenly, leading to cupping, twisting, and premature coating failure. End grain is particularly vulnerable — it absorbs moisture up to twelve times faster than face grain.
Major coating manufacturers and industry warranty schemes now specify minimum film builds on all exposed surfaces, including end grain and back faces. Traditional brush and spray methods cannot reliably achieve four-side coverage in production, leaving manufacturers exposed to warranty claims and callbacks.
Vacuum coating solves this by drawing primer into complete contact with every surface of the profile as it passes through the coating chamber — all four sides in a single, continuous pass.
